Cable Technician

Position Type: Full Time / Flexible (includes Sat/Sun)
Location: Positions available in Winston-Salem
Job summary: Cable TV / Phone Technician
No Cable Installation experience necessary / Tools and training provided.
Trainees will receive $50 per day for the 25 days of Training required.
Clark Cable Services will provide lodging for non-resident trainees.
Summary of essential job functions:

  1. Connects and disconnects cable, pay television, high-speed data and digital phone services as well as upgrades and downgrades. This can include customer owned equipment as required (i.e. HDTV’s, and surround sound systems)
  2. Installs digital cable terminals and ensures proper functionality and customer education.
  3. Installs and configures PC software required for high-speed data access service.
  4. Checks computer functions and internet connections on high-speed data installations.
  5. Installs digital phone modem and phone services to customer homes.
  6. Checks subscriber television reception and properly tunes television set(s).
  7. Troubleshoot cable connection from the modem to the tap to ensure that signal levels and noise floors are within ranges required for proper operation.
  8. Conducts CLI monitoring and repair and completes paperwork and routine maintenance from the tap to the house.
  9. Performs minor troubleshooting and assists installers and service technicians on small repair problems back to the tap.
  10. May collect converter deposits, installation fees, customer payments and sell additional services and/or products to customers.
  11. Reviews, completes and signs customer work order requests and insures all paperwork is properly and accurately completed.
  12. Recognizes, practices and enforces safety rules and procedures when performing technical tasks.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirments:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  2. Basic knowledge of the proper operation of consumer home electronics such as TVs, HDTV’s, VCRs, DVDs, surround sound systems and basic computer hardware and software knowledge required.

  3. Previous customer service experience is preferred.

  4. PC skills and previous electronics, CATV, telecommunications experience or course work is preferred.

  5. Valid NC driver’s license and clean, reliable truck or van.

  6. Requires adherence to Time Warner Standards of Business Conduct. Position must assist in maintaining the confidentiality of customer and business data at all times.
